Baja SAE is a collegiate engineering program where students design, build, and race off-road vehicles under strict regulations set by SAE International. These vehicles are judged in competitive events that assess both their engineering design and real-world performance.

Duncan McCormick

Duncan has been a member of the Baja Team for two years and has gained valuable leadership experience from his prior role as Frame Team Lead. As a Project Manager, he oversees each individual subteam and monitors their progress. Additionally, he deals with maintaining communication between all team members and making critical decisions to help the team meet competition deadlines.

Ryan been a member of the Baja Team for three years and has gained valuable engineering and technical skills during his time as a Drivetrain Team Lead and subteam member. As a Chief Engineer, Ryan is responsible for leading the technical aspects of the design and ensuring that the vehicle meets performance goals, competition rules, and safety standards.

Liam Conroy

Liam has been a member of Baja for four years and has experience in nearly every discipline. Last year, Liam held the position of Chief Engineer and in years prior, he was a member of various subteams. Currently, he guides fellow members and offers his technical expertise when unique design challenges are presented.

Thomas DeAngelis | Frame Team Lead

The Frame Subteam is responsible for designing and manufacturing the steel tube chassis, frame jig, firewall, and body panels of the Baja vehicle. These tasks involve working with static structures and loads as well utilizing manufacturing techniques to assemble all components.

The Suspension Subteam is responsible for designing and manufacturing the front and rear suspension, uprights, hubs, shocks, wheels, and tires of the Baja vehicle. They are also responsible for the vehicle’s steering as it works in tandem with the suspension system.

Electronics Subteam

Joshua Ledwitz | Team Lead

The Electronics Subteam is responsible for designing and manufacturing all wiring and circuitry of the Baja vehicle, including engine kill switches, a brake light, an alternator, a charging circuit, and sensors for data collection.
