Welcome the 2024-25 Season

Welcome to the new 2024-2025 Binghamton Motorsports season! We’re excited to kick off with a few updates before diving into the highlights from our recent competitions. First, a huge thank you to everyone who supported our Pie-An-Engineer fundraiser! With your generosity, we raised $1,010 for our team, which will help us gear up for another thrilling year of building, racing, and pushing the limits in Formula EV and Baja.

Additionally, we’ve been hard at work revamping the Binghamton Motorsports brand awareness to elevate our visibility and team identity. From some small tweaks in our designs to refreshed materials, we’re ready to showcase our team’s evolution and achievements in style this season. We’ve launched a brand-new website and will be engaging weekly on our social media platforms to bring you the latest team news, progress, and competition highlights. Keep an eye out for our updates on Facebook and other platforms as we take you behind the scenes on our journey!

SAE Baja Williamsport – May 2024

In May, the Baja Team competed in its first organized SAE competition in recent years. This event took place in Williamsport, PA where the team joined 100+ top universities from around the world. This competition focused on designing and building an off-road vehicle that could withstand the punishment of rough terrain.

While at competition, the team passed all necessary checks/inspections including engine check, brake check, 4WD test, and technical inspection. This was the first time in recent years the team had achieved this feat. This gave the team the opportunity to race side by side with some of the best teams in the world.

During their time at competition, the team learned vast amounts of information about vehicle designs and what to expect from competitions in the future.

SAE Formula EV Michigan – June 2024

This past June, the Formula team attended SAE Electric at Michigan International Speedway. As a first-time competitor at the EV competition, we joined 75+ top universities from around the world with the goal of developing clean energy technologies.

We impressed many, passing mechanical tech inspection, both accumulator electrical and mechanical tech, and driver egress with 6 different drivers, feats almost unheard of from first-time EV teams. We also competed in design judging, and cost judging events. Ultimately, we came just short of getting through EV active testing, due to a short in the low-voltage system and other electrical bugs. Despite this, we are extremely proud of the progress and achievements we made during this event, and look forward to returning next time to compete in dynamic events.

SAE Baja Michigan – September 2024

Back in September, the Baja Team competed in Michigan attending its second competition in recent months. The team joined 85+ top universities from around the world in an engineering challenge to design and build an off-road vehicle that will withstand the severe punishment of rough terrain.

For the second competition in a row, the team passed all necessary checks/inspections including engine check, brake check, 4WD test, and technical inspection. This gave the team the opportunity to race side by side with some of the best teams in the world.

The team improved its overall standing from the recent competition in Williamsport, PA, and looks to continue the upward trend into the 2025 season. We would like to thank everyone who helped us get to this point!

Gearing Up for the New Competition Season

We’re thrilled to announce that Binghamton Motorsports is officially registered for the SAE Baja competition in Maryland and the SAE Formula EV competition in Michigan, both taking place June 2025. With these high-stakes events on the horizon, our teams are fully immersed in internal design reviews and fine-tuning every detail to bring our vehicles from concept to reality. Stay tuned as we prepare to hit the tracks with all the innovation, precision, and passion that defines Binghamton Motorsports!
